New Glasgow Curling Rink – Problems

Club and Province Secretaries

Dear Secretary and others,

New Glasgow Curling Rink

We hope you and your families are all well in these difficult times.

Following the decision by Intu Braehead in November 2019, to close Braehead Curling Rink, Curlers gave a mandate ‘To provide the Glasgow Curling Community’ with its own curling facility in Glasgow by September 2022.

We have each been involved from the outset to deliver this mandate, and crucial matters for us were:

The facility should be owned by Glasgow Curlers, so that we would no longer be dependent on the Multinationals and Private Companies.

Should be opened by September 2022 to protect the loss of club members.

Over the last 4 months, we have each become increasingly concerned about endless delays, and a range of other serious issues. These have led us to completely lose confidence in the Glasgow Ice Rink Board, and separately we have all resigned from the Board and its Finance Group.
