Lanarkshire Province League Decider – Down To Last Game For Lanark (We lost – Here’s The Story)

28/02/20 – Looking promising for Lanark, but all down to last game – final game 4TH MARCH . Checkout the Table.

04/03/20 – Going into the game with Wishaw sitting on 2 Points, it looked good for Lanark to win the game. But – it didn’t turn out that way. All we had to do was win or peel the game for 7 Points.

However – here is the ScoreLine: 1 -1 1 -1 2 -2 -2 = 4/6 – a tight game (and hard) after 7 ends, going into the 8th with the ‘hammer’.

So the object was to get at least get 2 shots out of the end (to peel the game). However Wishaw had other ideas.

Determined to keep us down to one (on our final stone) they succeeded in keeping the house clear. But there was still a chance for us – we had a stone sitting about 2′ short of the house, just IT of the centre line. So a possible ‘split’ for 2 was on with Bob’s last stone?

OT stone delivered. Weight looked good to do the split and promotions, but possibly too much ice given? ‘Sugar’ – the ‘shooter’ missed the sitting stone by about 1″ on the OT side and continued through the house, leaving it blank. So the final result stood at 4/6 and a loss for Lanark and runners up in this seasons League.

So Bellshill will represent the Province at next seasons Rink Championships. Good luck to them to bring the trophy home for the Province.
