Scottish Curling – Grand Match 2020

Scottish Curling is pleased to announce the 2020 Indoor Grand Match will take place on Saturday 24 October 2020. It’s expected that upwards of 2000 curlers will join forces in the great battle of North of Scotland versus South of Scotland.

In a time of milder winters, the Indoor Grand Match is based on the traditional Grand Matches which are held on a frozen loch when temperatures and ice conditions permit. The first Indoor Grand Match was held to celebrate the millennium, and due to its success, it has continued every five years since.

An imaginary line will be drawn between the River Forth and River Clyde to decide the two sides, and games will be held at around 17 participating ice rinks across Scotland, with clubs opting to either play at home or away.  Scores are tallied at the end of all the games with the winning side being the one with the most points.

The Grand Match is deeply embedded in the heritage of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club, so we hope that all of our clubs will be able to join us in celebrating the indoor version next year.

More information about the 2020 Indoor Grand Match will be provided in the new year, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the latest on social media and our website.
