PRL Knockout – Down To The ‘Pot-Lid’

Last night saw Bill (BJ), Bob (BT), Alistair (AK) and myself (JH) take part in the first round of the LANARKSHIRE PROVINCE KNOCKOUT against (NO-SHOW) Douglas .

The first end saw Douglas’s Skip – John, produce an angle promotion of a front stone to count for one. However it wasn’t fully covered allowing Bill with his final stone to just skim past two front guards and ‘wheech’ it out for a four.

Good start, then the wheels started coming off our wagon. Struggling with our front end stones Douglas capitalised by ‘getting’ their stones into play then covering them, leaving us to open them. Most attempts failed, allowing Douglas to claw back the four and push on to a six.

However all was not lost, with a one at the sixth, and a steal of one in the seventh for a ‘peel’.

With the bell gone it was down to – ‘draw-the-shot’. We chose to go first with Bill electing Bob to draw our shot. Good choice, as Bob’s delivery produced a draw to just past the Pot Lid, biting the Lid and Four Foot. A tough call for Douglas’s Lead, David to follow. And indeed it was the case, with his draw to the back of the house .

7-6 for Lanark and through to the second round on 13th December.

Cheers
