Lanark Runners Up In 2005 Rink Championships

 

Runners Up – Martin (MY) 2nd, Bobby (BG) 3rd, Richard (RG) Skip, Jack (JH) Lead Galleon Manager & Jim Murdoch (RCCC Representative)

Having qualified to represent the LIR (Lanarkshire Ice Rink, Hamilton) at the annual RCCC – National Rink Championships, Lanark CC headed off for a weekend’s hard curling at GALLEON CENTRE, Kilmarnock. Eventually battling through to the finals against the Dunning CC; the winners.

RINK CHAMPIONSHIP
This highly coveted national title sees curlers come together in their clubs to compete first in the local ice rink qualifier and proceed to the national finals. An enjoyable weekend towards the end of the season, the finals combine high quality curling with camaraderie…………..”

1976:         (Hamilton & Thornyhill CC), George Raeburn Willie Frame, Allan Frame, Ian Hamilton

1967:         (Hamilton & Thornyhill CC), Alex Torrance, Alex Torrance, Bobby Kirkland, James Waddell

Interestingly, as the LIR CAME INTO BEING IN 1967, Hamilton & Thornyhill, being the first Club to represent the Rink – won? (and as you may see Alex Torrance’s name is listed as Skip and Third?), and some nine years later in 1976.
