BACKGROUND

All Lanark CC competitions are played, as approved by the Club Members at the Annual General Meeting, in accordance with the RULES of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club except insofar as contradicted below.

RULES:

1. All matches will be played to the bell or over 10 ends, (Midnight League for 8 ends), whichever is sooner. In the event of a tie in a Knock-Out competition an extra end should be played provided the end of session bell has not rung. Otherwise a member from each rink nominated by the skip should throw one stone which should be measured and removed before the second stone is thrown.

2. Normal sweeping rules apply.

3. Guard zones will apply to Leads stones.

4. In the event that any player is unable to play at the appointed time that player should inform the Match Secretary giving maximum possible notice. The Match Secretary will endeavour to find a suitable substitute. Players are responsible for finding their own substitutes after 7pm on the day before the game. It is a courtesy for any player unable to play at the designated time to inform his or her skip also.

5. A substitute may play in any position but not higher than the curler he/she is replacing.

6. Three players may constitute a rink with the first two players each throwing three stones. (No penalty is given for a 3-person rink).

7. In a Knock-Out competition only a player not involved in, or eliminated from, that competition may substitute with the exception of the first round where any playing members may be eligible.

8. Substitutes should note that it is their responsibility to ensure that the standard fee be paid to the Match Secretary (for onward transmission to the Treasurer). Free guard zone apply in all competitions including Pairs.
