NEWS – Sad News – Tom Gibson

As mentioned in the previous Post Update, the funeral took place yesterday and the Club was represented by our President Anne (AH), Anne Ramsay, Bob (BT), Donald (DM), Gregor (GN), Dorothy Noble and myself.

As anticipated there was a substantial turnout of family, friends and curling colleagues including an impressive show of blue jackets from the 1993 Scotland to Canada Tour in which Tom was a member.

Heartfelt tributes were delivered by his friend Andrew – of some 50 years, a curling appreciation from fellow LIR Director and friend Ian Fleming and on behalf of the family by his two daughters Kim & Jill.

Farewell Tom (Alias GrumpyTam)  🙁

Tom’s funeral will take place on Monday 7th December at 12.30pm at the South Lanarkshire Crematorium, Blantyre.

Dear Member

It is with sadness that I email you to inform you of the sudden death of Tom Gibson.

Tom was not a member of Lanark CC but he was very well known throughout the ice rink ie being on the Board of Directors of many years: curling with the Shareholders and taking part in many competitions with his own club, Hamilton & Thornyhill.

Tom collapsed during a curling game yesterday and, unfortunately, passed away thereafter.

He will be missed….. 🙁
