30/11/15 – JH

Sunday the 29th of November was certainly a day for indoor curling with the wind and sleet battering the Lanarkshire Ice Rink where the annual CLYDESDALE TROPHY competition was taking place. Ten teams took part each playing 3 x 4 ends using the  SCHENKLE SYSTEM scoring format.

Lanark was represented by Donald MacRae (DM) Jack Hood (JH) Anne Hood (AH) and Anne MacRae (AM) playing against Lesmahagow Ladies in the first round, Biggar in the 2nd and finally, and interestingly against Carstairs skipped by our own Bob Thomson (BT).

Lanark has only won this competition once in December 2004 and unfortunately this year ‘silver’ wasn’t coming Lanarks’ way with total of 6 ends (one up on LAST YEAR).

In the early years of the Clydesdale it was dominated by Lesmhagow but latterly DOUGLAS has caught up in the STANDINGS.

Congratulations to Douglas (8 Ends +10 Shots) with the runners-up Biggar (8 Ends + 3 Shots) – High Road and Coulter winners of the Low Road (6 Ends + 0 Shots – one shot more than Lanark 🙁 .

Till next year
