COMPETITIONS – Opening Bonspiel – A Close Call!

24/09/15 – AH – Lanark CC’s curling season got off to a fine start with 19 players turning up for the Opening Bonspiel.  We had 6 teams of 3 players + 1 full rink.

Congratulations to Bob Thomson, Hugh Campbell and June Faulds who won with +7 – just one shot ahead of Jack Hood, Iain Cogle and David Gemmell.  The funny thing to note is that Anne Hood’s team took the final end from Jack’s team by one shot – this proved to be the only end Jack’s team lost but it cost them the Donald Steele trophy!

It was good to see new members Bill Stewart and Peter Kerbey taking part.  Bill and Stewart joined Anne’s rink but we did not fare well, as our SCORE shows – however,  it means that there is only one way from here ie UP.

President Anne wished everyone a good curling season. 😉
