STRANRAER – Weekend – A Great Success

Hi all. The following is a ‘go’ at a few lines covering the weekend.
Including three non-playing spouses and friends, fourteen of us turned up for the Stranraer weekend. Twelve of us foregathered in the bar about 7:15 for a small libation prior to dinner, table booked for 8:00 pm. Unfortunately Donald and Anne were late due to business but the poor souls got some sandwiches later and the beer and wine were still flowing until the small hours of the morning, so all was well, though some were not quite so ‘on the ball’ come Saturday morning.
The curling was good, the ice a bit peculiar on some sheets, but the games were good and hard fought. The company was excellent and as usual the food was also excellent. Bill, Brian and Dorothy did very well, getting through to the semi-finals, so the Heatlie Silver Scuttle goes to them this year, well done.
I have booked four rinks for next year but am very tempted to increase this to five as all who came this year have expressed a wish to come back next year, but we will also have Bob Thomson, Anne Ramsay, Mary Tweedie, and David & Louise Gemmal, whom I assume will wish to go, not to mention anyone else who fancies a terrific weekend of curling.
Next year the weekend is 12th to the 14th February and it would be most helpful if all who wish to go could let me know as soon as possible as if we need an extra rink I will have to request it as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Bill Jackson (BJ), Brian Stephenson (BS) and Dorothy Jackson (DJ) for winning the Heatlie Scuttle ( RESULTS ) at the club’s weekend visit to Stranraer. Bill’s team made it through to the SF but were narrowly beaten…..it was exciting stuff.
13 members plus guests and partners enjoyed a good weekend and thanks must go to Moray Deane for organising this event.
Moray has booked 4 rinks for next year (same time) so do try to come along – we now have a Games Room challenge running with New Monklands. How good is your snooker, table tennis or indoor bowls? After seeing Bill, Donald, Hugh and Brian playing snooker then I can say there is room for improvement – hi hi!

06/02/15 – JH – Things have looked up with enough members to support three rinks for this weekend and play for the Scuttle. Click HERE for latest. Good luck everybody and enjoy the ‘grub’ and ‘craic’ 🙂
07/01/15 – JH – It looks that this might be the last year of our Club’s Weekend Away (Feb). With dwindling support it is now difficult to even field two rinks at Stranraer to play for the HEATLIE SCUTTLE 🙁
